We’re pushing the boundaries of horticulture in Northern Europe with the 2 olive trees that are currently residing at our front door. Everything I read about growing olives basically says in big bold letters not to even think about growing them in Scotland. As anyone who knows me will confirm listening to advice has never been a strong point of mine so the olive tree experiment will continue. For the time being they seem to be quite enjoying the southerly aspect of Newton Place and the Indian summer we’re currently having. I’m confident that if we can keep them away from frost and passing neds they should do OK. You never know if they flourish we might start planting grapes next year!
